This Merlot was mainly aged for more than one year in barriques and is redolent of ripe red berries, plums and cedar, along with nuances of chocolate. The Kleine Zalze Cellar Merlot is wonderfully structured on the palate, with ripe, well-integrated tannins, a fresh acidity and a pleasant, fruity lightness. The finish is long-lasting. This pure varietal Merlot from the Coastal region matured for one year in French barriques. The dry red wine is a delight to enjoy simply on its own but also goes beautifully with a good meal. Try it with roasts, game ragout or biltong (dried, cured meat typical of South African cuisine).
